Güllük Gülistanlık / The Rose Garden
”The Rose Garden”, 2017 Porcelain powder and brass, various dimensions.

In the installation The Rose Garden (2017), the exotic white blossoms on the branches appear give the impression of a beautiful flourishing garden. Only upon closer inspection do minute details in the delicate porcelain casts, such as pores and little hairs, reveal the blossom petals’ surpassingly sensual physiology. They are indeed casts of the artist’s various body zones – elbows, breasts, shoulders, underarms – which, in their fragmented abstraction, however, are not immediately recognizable.
